I Should Have Purchased One Years Ago!!
After nicking my leg badly yet again with a razor I thought I’d give an epilator a goBraun epilators generally came out as the best available so tried to decide between the Silk-épil 7 or Silk-épil 9 but because the 9 has a larger/wider head I went with the 9 so it’s quicker to useAs soon as I received it I charged it up using the shaver socket in the bathroom and gave it a go on my legs thinking it was going to be very painful but to my surprise it wasn’t that bad at all and got used to the sensation really quicklyAfter my legs I tried it underarms but that was a little painful but I think that’s because I’d let the hair grow a bit too long so used the trimmer (supplied on the shaver head with the 9-890) to trim the hair shorter and tried again and that was much betterTonight I thought I’d try it on the intimate area so I again trimmed the hair first (using the handy little bikini trimmer supplied with the 9-890) then used the epilator, it was a little bit painful at first but very soon got used to it and had no problemsI’ve only used it on dry skin but I’m sure it’d be even better, and gentler, if used wet in the bath or shower with warm waterThe Silk-épil 9 seems to remove even the shortest hairs no problem, it’s supposed to pluck down to 0.5 mmI wondered if I’d use all the attachments supplied with the 9-890 but I’ve already used most of them and next I’m going to try it on the face with the facial cap fittedIt’s worth noting that all the Silk-épil 9’s are all the same unit but just supplied with more or less attachments (same goes for the Silk-épil 5’s/7’s etc)I’d highly recommend you give an epilator a go (especially the Braun’s) as it’s not nearly as bad a sensation as expected, but that might depend on your pain threshold I guessThe Silk-épil 9 was quite expensive (even on offer) but, for me, totally worth the initial outlay as this will get a lot of useAs my title states “I Should Have Purchased One Years Ago!!”

Well worth the price
Having previously tried an epilator several years ago, I never intended using one again because the pain was so bad. However, after waxing, I didn’t like having to wait for all the hair to grow back to remove it so I thought I’d try it again. I’m glad I did, because it has made hair removal a lot easier for me. I found it slightly painful on the thigh and bikini area but legs, arms and underarms didn’t really hurt at all.The device charges quickly and is easy to use, although I had to buy a 2 pin to 3 pin adaptor to use in England. A single charge let me do both full legs, both full arms, underarms and bikini area. First time took about and hour and a half, subsequent times have taken about an hour to do the lot. I’ve been doing it weekly but I’ve heard the time between epilations increases and pain decreases as you use it, so I hope that’s the case. I can’t really compare to other modern epilators but I have been really impressed with this one and wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.

Pricey, but effective and less painful than my old epilator with some great features and extras
I have been epilating since my sister bought me a Phillips epilator aged 16. I am 50 now and this week my Phillips sparked when I plugged it in and aged 34 it was consigned to the bin. I never shave anymore but I don't epilate that regularly either, hiding my hairy legs in leggings and tights over winter...I know...attractive eh?! Over the years my leg hair growth has certainly become more sparse and the process less painful, although underarms are still a bit eye watering. So I read the reviews and decided to splash out on the silk Epil which is rechargeable, and comes with a sleek battery operated pen shaver for intimate areas. I bought the two pin adaptor at the same time. I charged it up for two hours and set to work, with very poor lighting as the sun was dropping...on my legs, which were last epilated around one month ago. I tried it on setting one and I noticed that there was no pain whatsoever, it felt like using an electric razor. It was quieter than my old model which made a fearsome sound akin to tractor mowing over metal. The light is a fabulous idea, and really allowed me to grab all the hairs. Old epilator didnt have a light, and I always missed some of the hairs that were growing in different directions. Old epilator was also a great deal more uncomfortable to use. I turned the power up a notch onto the second setting recommended for seasoned users and I could feel it this time, more like the discomfort of my old one, although not quite, and more than tolerable. I was left as always with legs that dont feel as silky smooth as a razor shave, but do feel a good deal smoother than old epilator offered and I definitely feel that the coverage was a good deal better. I turned next to my pits. Perhaps I should have taken advantage of the battery operated shaver that came as part of the package and trimmed my rather long sparse underarm hair before attempting to rip it out by the roots, but I didnt and accordingly it was rather unpleasant. I attached what I thought was the massage head, recommended for sensitive areas, but realised afterwards that I had used the facial hair head instead, which restricts the area of coverage, perhaps prolonging the agony. However, my pits are now hair free and they do feel smooth. I then turned to the hairs that have popped up on my upper lip...I really am not the hairy ogre that this review portrays, but want to tell it like it is.....so I used the facial hair attachment again and OOCH.....gosh this hurt, it is though the first time I have ever addressed facial hair with an epilator, hence I think this would get easier as it has with my legs for sure. Finally I had a quick whip around the bikini line with the pen razor....easy to use and very effective and it hasn't irritated my skin at all. Job done in around 10 minutes. So all in all, I have to say I am very pleased with this product. I will probably use it more than my old one, on account of ease (no cords to get in the way), pain (certainly on the legs this felt much easier and on setting one, a walk in the park...... The lead with adaptor is slightly too bulky to fit in the bag with all the attachments etc which is a shame, but other than that I can't fault it. I have purchased a loofah, because I feel this might bring the silkiness closer to a razor shave, as you can get bumps developing from ingrowing follicles if you don't exfoliate and I havent really paid too much attention to this part of the regime as an infrequent exfoliator. I will be interested to see how long this session lasts for. Having applied some moisturiser to my legs, they do feel pretty smooth, and I think this product is well worth the money. I hope it lasts me another 34 years by which time I will have more hair on my lip than my head.

Totally worth it
I purchased this to replace my old silk epil 7 which I had it for almost 10 years, I have very good experience with braun. This new one has the same attachments just the head is bigger than the old one which covers big areas. Highly recommended thank you
