Far superior to older models.
Up until last year I had an ancient 'fat' 40GB PS3 which eventually died having suffered an Xbox red ring of death style fault. It had lasted about 3 years, it was noisy, had very little memory and very occasionally crashed. I was deliberating buying a new PS3 or an Xbox 360. A friend donated me an Xbox 360 and having been severely annoyed by Microsoft's management of Xbox Live, I opted to go for the PS3. I haven't been disappointed. The new slim line 320GB version is sleek compared to the tank like XBox, it is very quiet, unobtrusive and is genuinely a pleasure to have. Apart from being smaller than the originals it's cooling system is better and it seems to run more efficiently. Playstation Network, is free and in my opinion better than Xbox Live, which was painful to manage (in addition, to cancel your XBox Live you have better luck getting blood out of stone and Microsoft will grill you for reasons why).I was quickly able to install my previous downloads which I had spent money on in the past. The storage size is huge and having installed Red Dead Redemption and its subsequent expansion packs it hasn't even taken up 5% of the capacity. It would have killed my previous one. The controllers are smaller and I feel better suited to the hand than the bulky Xbox pads. Plus they can be charged via USB rather than replacing the batteries as standard. That said this is more a personal preference than a design fault. The games you can buy are more or less identical for either console, so it's really a matter of what suits you as an individual. The only downsides to the PS3 is that you are constantly having to install software updates to the point it becomes frustrating. Xbox has these too but they are far less frequent. The Xbox interface is more user friendly, but the PS3's looks more sophisticated and classy. Playstation Move in my opinion is inferior to the Xbox's Kinnect and is more like the Nintendo Wii. That said I personally am not really interested in this style of gaming so it doesn't bother me. Friends are very complimentary about XBox Live online gaming but again I don't feel there is much difference and as I am not a massive fan of playing online, its not that important to me personally. In addition there was the recent problems with the Playstation Network being hacked into and people's personal information being available, but your just as vulnerable to hackers on XBox Live so no dramas really. XBox Live generally has more DLC that I have seen on the PS Network but it depends how much you use it.All in all a great console and far better than previous versions.

O dear.
Sorry. I was going to leave this alone after finally getting my refund only after Amazon stepped in. I feel strongly that others should know how badly my experience with this seller was so they can be forewarned. The goods, advertised as new, we're scuffed and obviously used. Seeing as I was charged for new I wasn't impressed. It's taken a month of constant phone calls, no fault of Amazon I hasten to add, and delaying tactics from the seller to finally have a refund. My advice is to be wary and look at all choices.

Good stuff mostly!
I love the PS3 consoles, as long as they keep being refurbished, I'll always have one! My latest console has arrived, the condition is fantastic and I'm very happy with it. Not so happy that the 'official controller' that's supposed to come with it, is actually a wired piece of crap, covered in filth and not official at all. Doesn't even look like a PS3 controller! I've still got a couple kicking around from my last console so I'll use those. Don't expect to see a proper controller and you won't be disappointed! Xx

SONY PS3 320GB SLIM CONSOLE
PS3 CONSOLE ARRIVED ON TIME AND IN GOOD CONDITION IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX AND SO FAR WORKS FINE. HOWEVER THERE WAS NO CONTROLLER ENCLOSED AND THE HDMI CABLE ENCLOSED WAS FAULTY AND DID NOT WORK.

An excellent Playstation
I am a Playstation gamer through and through. I'd had my original 60GB PS for years and years, so when it finally died the choice of which console to replace it with was a tough one.The original Fat PS's were plagued with the YLOD and the new Super Slim's just felt a bit cheap. So I opted for this, the 320GB slim. It is an excellent console, much smaller in form factor over its predecessor and much quieter too. It feels sturdy, with enough build quality to last. The only criticism I have is of the blu-ray drive, which in this model seems to be much louder than in the FAT model's. Other than that, an excellent console.

Short life span.
Arrived fine and worked perfectly well, had no issues. Played games, music and DVDs smoothly. However, I bought it in April 2012 and the power supply suddenly died in Sept 2013, less than six months after the warranty on it ended. After diagnosing the problem and attempting to replace the PSU, we've found that the problem cannot be fixed, even by Sony, and all of our saved data is inaccessible.

PS3 320GB SLIM CONSOLE
The new PS3 from SONY. Lighter,Compact,320GB hard drive ( Massive space for game saves ) no overheating problems ( Unlike my first PS3 did in summer ) or fan noise (This could be a problem for quiet games ). This is a very versatile unit with the On-line connections and netplay sites availble to all PS3 gaming fans. As for "value for money" this product is outstanding value. Highly recommended, especially for christmas/birthday presents. Highly recommended/Well made product/Good value, and above all good fun.
