The THUMBUSTERS is a great new device a child wears on their hand as a reminder not to thumb suck. We suggest wearing the THUMBUSTERS at those difficult times like bedtime, while watching T.V. or even school! The THUMBUSTERS is an extremely comfortable glove-like device which is worn on the thumb and easily attaches around the wrist. Made of Lycra, this material breathes and is safe. Recommended for children ages 5-12 who want to stop sucking their thumb but need a little reminder at times. THUMBUSTERS empowers your child to stop on their own instead of needing constant reminders from adults. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These Work!!! But Only When Your Child Is READY To Quit...
NOTE: If you are looking at buying these for your child because YOU are ready for your child to quit sucking their thumb, then DO NOT waste your money. These will not work for a child who isn't ready to quit. But....If your child is like mine -- a smart 5 year old boy -- who was ready to quit because:- he is the only child left in his class who still sucked his thumb;- he is headed off to kindergarten in the Fall (big boy school);- and he is keenly aware of his thumbsucking, knows it is dirty/germy, and HE WANTS TO STOP...Then Thumbusters will ABSOLUTELY WORK for your child!!!My boy was all these things. None of his buddies sucked their thumbs anymore. Most never sucked their thumbs at all. But my Son was sucking his thumb in the womb! So stopping was never going to be easy for him. And his Mother and I never pushed him to quit because it is compltely counterproductive. But when my Son turned 5, he became aware and embarrassed of his thumbsucking to the point he would cover up his thumb hand with his other hand to "hide" his act. But he was the one who actually asked us to help him quit.So we talked with him about all the options and devices that can help him quit...nasty nail polish, hot gloves, even hotter mittens, plastic devices, etc. He decided he just needed a reminder to not suck his thumb, so he wanted a "reminder" in the form of a glove. He was certain he could quit himself. So I showed him two different anti-thumbsucking gloves online and he chose the Thumbuster because they looked like superhero gloves, with bright colors, and still allowed his hands to be free and open. When they came in the mail, he could not wait to put them on. He wore them so much, I had to get a second pair because they got dirty often. But he was steadfast in wearing them everyday, all the time, especially in the evenings and at night (when he was tired and most vulnerable to slipping that thumb back in his mouth). With the reminder the Thumbusters provided, today marks his 30th day that he has gone without sucking his thumbs. He did it all himself. He just needed a reminder. And the Thumbusters provided that.OBTW: My Son actually sucks(ed) either/both thumbs. So I had to purchase two (2) Thumbusters to cover both of his thumbs. But they DO NOT come in pairs...only one. As some reviewers have posted, yes they are a bit expensive. And yes, they are not very durable, they are prone to snagging easily on their own Velcro hooks, and they will look beat up after only a week or so. But they are soft, safe, and will fit most thumbs because the material is very stretchy. For us, they were perfect...And for us, the cost of four (4) Thumbusters at $14 each, was still a lot less expensive than just one of those $90 plastic cover contraptions that makes your child to stop sucking their thumb by force. Seems overboard to me, but to each their own. When your child is ready to quit, your child will quit. Parents...calm down and take a breath. This too, shall pass...THANKS THUMBUSTERS!!!

TRASH! Don't waste your time, too!
The product is a JOKE! It is made of spandex-like material like swimsuit fabric that is super thin and stretchy. All a kid has to do is pull the cover off of the thumb. Not to mention the velcro teeth stick to the fabric causing it to pill. Then the stitching started to come apart.... REFUND! Amazon was great and gave me a prompt refund without having to return the flimsy item. Gave one star for that. Shipping shouldn't be more than a postage stamp anyway. I'm trying the Hoof "Stop the Bite".

Worked for my 6 yr old!
I purchased a thumbuster after my son's last dentist appointment. The dentist said now that he was about to lose his two front teeth he needed to stop sucking his thumb before the adult teeth grew in. I looked at different items online and decided to give the thumbusters a try mainly because it was an affordable option. Overall, I was extremely happy with the product and it served its purpose. My son has his next dentist appointment on August 21st and he has officially stopped sucking his thumb and no longer needs the thumbusters. Here are the steps I took to break the habit...1. Order two of these (initially I ordered one and then ordered a 2nd when my son started sucking his other thumb)2. Place bandaids on each thumb underneath the thumbuster to start with (my son would slide his thumb out of the thumbuster during the middle of the night not even realizing he was doing it). The bandaid could not be removed while he was sleeping without some serious effort and he definitely did not like sucking his thumb with a bandaid on.3. On the first few nights I told my son he had to wear the thumbuster for 10 minutes, then 15, then 20, etc. I came in at the designated time and if he was still awake he could take off the thumbusters. Eventually, we got to the point where he was falling asleep before I came in to check on him and then leaving the thumbusters on all night long(this only took a few nights).4. After he was comfortable falling asleep without sucking his thumb we no longer used the bandaids. We continued with the thumbusters for a few months and then one night we forgot to put them on after books. He didn't suck his thumb at all and hasn't needed the thumbusters since.Recently he did stick his thumb in his mouth just to try it out again and he told me it no longer tasted good. I'm sure that is because the skin and nail is not as soft any longer. My son has a blanket that he sleeps with and loves dearly. We initially thought we would need to take the blanket away as the only time he sucked his thumb was while holding the blanket. I felt terrible about taking both of his comfort items away at once and the thumbusters allowed him to keep the blanket while breaking the thumbsucking habit. Some people have complained about the quality of the thumbusters. We had no issues and I even washed them a couple of times. The material is soft/silky. It did pill a bit over time but they have held up well. This may seem like quite the process but I tried to keep it laid back and was overall easy going about it. I think the key was allowing him to remove the thumbusters the first few nights when he didn't fall asleep right away. I also knew I had 6 months to work with before his next dentist appointment. The dentist promised him 4 toys (gumball machine type stuff) at his next appointment if he had stopped sucking his thumb so that was a big motivator for him.Hope this information helps!

This worked for a couple days and then my son ...
This worked for a couple days and then my son figured he could pull off the thumb part. Its also not that durable. This is made out of thin material and within a week's time after receiving it there were strings hanging and my son pull on them and it completely came unraveled and unable to use. Will not be purchasing again.
