Great book Great author
It's an important read of a little known area of study and it's a pleasure to explore the outlines by a practitioner who knows his practices and heritage.

Has both background and practical information.
A small but informative book that includes both background and practical information. Quite an interesting read for those interested in the topic.

I was very pleasantly surprised upon recieving this book, it is well written in a informative, no nonsense manner, with a lot of lore regarding the north asian mysteries and the cultures they grew out of. Its remarkably well rounded for such a small volume, and I'm hoping for another book by the author soon!

Misleading title. It's a simple Wikipedia
Misleading title. It's a simple Wikipedia, a quick glans to northern Asian / Chinese people; no spell, no detail, no anything.

Recommended for anyone with an interest in magic or indigenous cultures.
This is a beautiful slice of a part of the world I knew almost nothing about before Shi's book. The writing is clear and flows well, but never waters down the subject matter. Shi shares the material in a definitely accessible and lovely way. I recommend this to anyone with an interest in magic or indigenous cultures.
