This is a BUDGET pencil?! Amazing!!
I had heard about these pencils watching Peta Hewitt’s YouTube channel and had to give them a try when they showed up on Amazon. I knew to expect them to be nice pencils, but even so, I was shocked they are just a budget pencil! They are the best of all the budget pencils I’ve tried – including Faber Castell Classics, Marco Raffine, Staedtler Ergosoft and even my previous favorite – Fantasia. Honestly, they rank with some of the artist grade ones I’ve tried such as Derwent Artists or Irojiten. They have wonderful, bright pigment and glide on the page smoothly – almost as if there is a little oil there in the binder. Lovely, lovely pencils! I decided to do a big comparison of 8 of my pencil brands – 4 Artist grade (Polychromos, Prismacolor, Derwent Artists and Lyra Polycolor) and 4 budget pencils (Micador, FC Classics, Marco Raffine and Fantasia). A la Peta, I used the 8 pointed mandala in one of my coloring books and divided into 8 sections choosing 9 fairly similar colors from each set. This way it was the same paper and at the same time so I could best compare how they handle blending and layering. So as I like to do on my pencil reviews I tried to analyze by the talking point generally used in evaluating pencils:Pencil Core:The core on these pencils is soft enough to glide on paper, but still keeps a point for a while without constant resharpening as is needed more often with Prismacolor and Lyra pencils which have a very soft core.Pigment/Layering:Lovely, bright pigment goes down easily on the paper. They also layer and blend easily. The best of the budget pencils and better than or equal to the Derwent Artists. With a feel just a touch closer to the Polychromos in the smoothness, but not quite that smooth. Honestly, they outperformed the Lyra’s because for some reason the cores on those can be inconsistent. 2 of the colors I used (pink and purple) where hard and almost scratchy while the Micador’s were consistent throughout the set.Color Selection:A nice selection of 36 colors. I would prefer a little more in the blue-green range and lose the metallics, but I was pleased overall with the selection. Would love it if they made a larger set of colors someday! A note on the metallic pencils. Normally the metallics have a scratchier feel but these fell just as smooth as the other colors in the range.Sharpening:No issues with sharpening so far though I haven’t had to use them enough to need to sharpen more than a couple of them because they keep a nice point.Form – pencil shape/color/labeling:These pencils even have an appealing look to them! The main pencil shaft has the color and the tips are in green. I love that they have the color names on them and not just a number. I find it much easier to remember I was using Vermilion, not #XYZ.Storage:Like most budget pencils, these just come in a box so I purchased a wallet style pencil case for them.Replacement:Because these pencils come only in sets, you cannot buy open stock replacements. Considering the price point for these pencils, however, I do not see this to be an issue.I am loving these pencils! I even bought 2 sets – one to give away for a birthday gift with a coloring book!I did have a problem with a single pencil in one of the 2 packs I ordered - a manufacturing defect where one pencil had no core. I contacted the seller and they sent me out a new pack - excellent experience with their customer service should the same thing happen to you!

I AM SO IMPRESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow do I ever love these pencils!!!! I never thought I would have a chance to even use them since they are from an Australian based company. I have watched a lot of videos and Peta Hewitt uses these pencils quite a bit and I SO wanted to try them. A coloring club I belong to posted that these pencils were available and I immediately went to Amazon and ordered them with great anticipation! Well I have them now and I am truly impressed. These are a wax based pencil and although they are not artist grade, they have a fairly soft lead, a lot softer lead than my other non-artist grade pencils so an in between would best describe them. These pencils are part of Green Earth Collection for those of you whom are earth and green friendly! These pencils not at all scratchy and they have a beautiful assortment of colors. In this 36 package I got five shades of green, five shades of blue, four shades of purple/violet's, five shades of yellow and orange, five shades of pink and reds, six shades of brown, two shades of gray, a black, a white, and a gold and a silver! Each pencil is stamped "Micador Colourush Pencil" and the color name is stamped as well. The pencil barrel matches the color of the pencil which is a real plus for me - less testing on a scratch piece of paper. The pencils are hexagonal in shape so they will not be rolling off your table or work space. The colors lay down very nicely, the pigment of the pencil gets deeper and more intense with each layer you add and I added a good seven layers without any 'waxy bloom' and I color pretty heavy handed. The colors blend well using the pencils, a blender pencil or the white pencil which is a great true white pencil (reminds me of the Prisma Color white pencil). I really think that these are an excellent pencil and their layering ability certainly allows for many different colors and so does their blending ability. These might not be 'artist grade' pencils but they are a delicious lovely pencil that I know I will get a lot of use from for beautiful results!!! I am very glad I purchased them as soon as I did since they are now sold out - you really need to give these pencils a try!

Very nice budget pencil.
Bought these because one of my art mentors uses them. I do love them. They are very good colors and lay down and blend nicely. I only give them 4 stars because the color line is limited and I like to get more than 36 colors but then again, maybe Micadour will see how popular these pencils have become and will increase the color line!! Here's hoping!!

Great Middle of the Road pencils, but twice the price of Marco Raffine (72pc) or Colleen (60pc) with only 36 colors
Very nice and soft coloring pencils which I tried after Peta Hewitt raves about them. I would have given them 5 stars but I am unhappy with the price. These pencils are very cheap in Australia ( I used to live there for 16 years) and the price here is just a bit high, since you can get Marco Raffine 72 or Colleen 60 pencils for around $ 20 and Micador Color Rush pencils only have 36 colors for $ 25.So I am waiting for Amazon to hammer out a better deal until I order them again.

Highly recommend, great budget pencile set!!!
These Micador ColouRush Pencils are Great! I recently purchased these pencils from Amazon to try on my Adult Coloring Books, after seeing them online a few times. They are not an artist grade pencil, however they have very nice color. They are not as hard of a colored led compared to some other budget friendly pencils, but they are not as soft as a PrismaColor led. They can be blended fairly easy, and you can lay marker on top to create even more depth. You do not have to press hard to get good color, to deepen the color you put down, just layer the color on. I would highly recommend these to others who are looking for budget friendly colored pencils that are better than the everyday children's coloring supplies. Also, for those Earth Friendly folks out there, these are part of Micador's Green Earth Collection, and the wood to make these is sourced from a managed forest managed by the FSC. I was lucky enough to purchase this product at a discounted price in return for my unbiased and personal review. I hope this review was helpful, and you having many days of Happy Coloring!

Wonderful budget pencils!
I heard about these pencils on YouTube from an artist who regularly speaks highly of them. They're from an Australian company and at first it was quite difficult to get hold of a pack, but this seller was extremely helpful and I was finally able to purchase some. I'm so pleased that I decided to get a set of these pencils! They are very buttery and lay down beautiful, vibrant colour smoothly. They layer and blend well and sharpen to a nice point for fine detail. All in all, these are fantastic pencils for anyone who wants a more affordable set than some of the higher end brands. It's a shame they don't come in larger packs with a wider range of colours - I believe 36 is the largest - but I still love them and am already planning on buying a 'back up' pack next payday!

blend beautifully and sharpen to a good point
Wood sourced from well managed forests, this caught my eye straight away. These 36 pencils have vibrant colours, blend beautifully and sharpen to a good point. The added bonus is the price! Purchased from Amazon and delivered promptly. Highly recommended.

Three Stars
Nice pencils not always easy to build up colour but fine for general colouring.
