Truly Opaque and Easy to Use!
In my honest opinion, this window film was easier to install than any other type I have tried, and it was significantly more affordable as well.My husband was on the other side of the glass, moving back and forth to test the film's opacity. He didn't know I was taking photos for this review, adding to the candidness of this feedback. The shadow in the second photo is from our porch light, specifically the trim around the porch.Initially, I was skeptical about the etched oval glass shown in other reviews, as it seemed partially transparent. However, after applying this film myself, I can confidently say it is completely opaque.Although I have had some prior experience with window film, following the instructions meticulously will ensure excellent results. Remember, water is helpful in this process. The film adheres through static cling, not stickiness. Don't be afraid to use more water than what you think you need. What's Included:This purchase is a kit. The tools are located inside the tube of film - a detail I only discovered after reading other reviews. You'll Need:A water spray bottle (set to fine mist)A credit card or small squeegeeA lint-free cloth (the kit includes one, but I didn't test it for lint)Application Tips:1. Measure the Area: Determine the size of the space you need to cover.2. Cut the Film: Leave about 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) extra on all sides.3. Clean the Surface: Wipe the window or glass with a lint-free cloth and rubbing alcohol.4. Mist the Glass: Generously spray the glass surface with water.5. Prepare the Film: Peel off the clear backing and mist the exposed side of the film too. This prevents excessive static cling during application.6. Apply the Film: Align it as accurately as possible and let it adhere lightly to the glass.7. Trim for Precision: Use the extra 0.5 inches for exact trimming once the film is in place.8. Trim the Edges: Carefully use the razor knife from the kit to trim the film to the exact size.9. Remove Air Bubbles: Start from the center and use a credit card to push air bubbles towards the edges.10. Ensure Smoothness: Continue smoothing until all air bubbles are gone.11. Final Adjustments: If further trimming is needed for a perfect fit, do so. Rewet the adjusted area and remove any new air bubbles with the card.By following these steps, the application should be smooth and the film will effectively obscure the view, ensuring privacy.

Pretty good stuff
You'll see some reviews on here about the installation being a pain, and for what it's worth, it really wasn't that bad. As long as you carefully follow all five (5) steps, you'll get a good result. You'll also want to find a spray bottle and fill it with soapy water. You will also need a squeegee. I used one of the rectangular types that are used for applying vinyl to cars. A credit card might have worked fine, but might as well use the right tools. The soapy water helps to get all the bubbles out and pushes the film onto the glass. As long as you clean and dry the glass first, then apply the soapy water, installation should be a breeze.I purchased the film to install on the inside of the glass railing on our balcony. As it is outside, I'm not sure how well it will hold up, although it's also not directly exposed to the elements. Time will tell.As of writing this review, the film has been on for about 6 hours. I will be monitoring for a couple of weeks before applying more to the rest of the balcony. I will update this review if anything changes in that time.4 stars to start as the film does have some scratches and spots on it, but I can't really complain over all.EDIT: alright so its like 3-4 months down the road and this film hasn't moved. I'm curious to see what happens as we go from warm to cold weather. I did install it in cooler weather. Over all I'm very happy with the product. Worked almost exactly as expected. Hard to get perfect, easy to get pretty good.Follow. The. Instructions. Spray bottle. Soapy water. Hard squeegee. The reviews with people who have big pockets of air didn't use soapy water. My application is outside, on the interior face of the balcony railing glass.Keep in mind, once you take the backing off the film, it's very static-y. Everything will cling to it. If you can, have someone else hold the film while you pull the backing off. That way it won't swing back towards you and pick up lint/pet hair. The "scratches" I noticed at first are actually cat hair. True story. Though it isn't noticeable enough for me to try and fix it.

Goood quality
Quality of the film was pretty good and it felt thick. It was easy to work with if you follow the instructions, end results were also quite good with a little patience.

Easy, forgiving material - follow directions!
This s stuff went in way nicer than I expected. The material it pretty thick and softly flexible. I thought I would see creasing but this dingdong DIY'er managed to make 3 windows look pretty good. I was also skeptical about the privacy it would offer because all of the neighbouring homes have been torn down recently - but its perfect! My plants are still happy with filtered light, my room is way brighter without the window coverings I was using and I don't have to worry about what the construction site will see when there are 5 stories of people 15 feet from my bedroom window.Cleaning the windows is the hardest part! Clean them REALLY well - especially the corners.A cutting mat is ideal but not necessary.Spraying soapy water on glass and film works great with a thorough squeegee-ing & more Windex if you don't have a seperate spray bottle worked fine.I let mine dry and then easily cut star shaped peekaboo holes

The 'DuoFire' brand of privacy film is awesome stuff. It is purpose-designed to diffuse--as opposed to opaque--light. The stuff is marketed as a privacy film, and it serves this function perfectly. However, for the creative types among us who like to work with translucent material, the DS001W film is exceptional.DuoFire's DS001W is a translucent film; it diffuses light using a matte layer of fine speckle texture on one side of the film (the opposite side is applied to glass). The material is has no adhesive; you apply it to directly to clean glass misted with water. The film is easy to position, and reposition. The DS001W film is robust stuff and will not tear, scuff or stretch while being manipulated during application. The film's backing sheet offers no guidelines or alignment pattern.Privacy Film:Passively-illuminated objects greater than 8 inches on either side of the film/glass are completely obscured, though one can discern shapes of relatively bright objects. In my opinion, this makes the DS001W product especially effective as privacy film. Inside of 8 inches, most anything can be discerned, and every object placed against the film/glass is easily discerned, including text.Light Diffuser:For my particular application, I needed to find a comparatively inexpensive alternative to translucent acrylic that approximated as closely as possible While nothing matches the excellent light diffusing properties of that material, DuoFire's DS001W film comes acceptably close (to my eye) at a very good price. The "hot spot" from a light source disappears when separation is greater than 8 inches from the film/glass, or when the film is applied to both sides of the glass.Electronic Cutting MachinesDuoFire's DS001W film is completely compatible with electronic cutting machines when the material is pre-cut to a size that is feed-compatible with the cutter. I was able to cut complex and orthogonal shapes from the DS001W film with no difficulty on both CriCut and Silhouette cutters. Some interesting diffusion and shadow effects are possible by applying different shapes or shapes of various sizes of the DS001W film to both sides of the glass.
