Seemed like a good idea?
My teenage son and I shed a lot of hair in the bath/shower, and I thought this would be a good alternative to the suction-cup starfish that I had been using to catch our hair in the tub. I had seen it advertised a lot, and when I realized that the starfish was also developing a mould issue that bleach wasn’t handling well, I decided to splurge, figuring it was cheaper than drain snakes and less gross than pulling whatever soggy dead-mouse-looking clump of yuck out of the drain like I’ve done for years. Are they supposed to be this ugly? Or this flimsy? Trying to shove it in the drain hole, the thing basically collapses into itself, like one of those wind-dancer things outside of car dealerships when they start losing air pressure. Then it sticks up out of the drain by a good 3/4 of an inch, looking ugly as hell while hair gets wrapped and twisted around it like one of those round bristle brushes when it catches your hair wrong and you’re just left with brush handle hanging out of a hair nest attached to your scalp. I need scissors and tweezers to get all the hair off, which is way more involved than just using a piece of paper towel to wipe a clump of hair off the top of the flat-ish starfish. And the bathroom sink? I tried everything I could to shove it in the drain and adjust it so that it sat properly, which also meant having to stick my fingers into the drain to adjust the flimsy flange on the bottom. Isn’t this what I was trying to avoid in the first place? How much bleach is too much bleach when I’ve just been 2-knuckles deep inside the gaping maw of either of my drains to install a device that was meant to make life easier, but clearly isn’t? Sooo, good idea in theory, but not so much in practice. I think I’ll stick with my starfish, and just keep replacing them as they get mouldy.

Fairly good product
I got one for the tub and one for the bathroom sink. It definitely snags hair and gunk and can best be cleaned by using a paper towel to wipe off and grab what it has collected and might take a few swipes to get it all. But it's a bit cheap, and the one for the tub had the silver cap come off so now there's this dull plastic cap exposed and i couldn't get the metal cap back on it. The rubber stopper has holes in it to allow water through, but clogs up quickly. It is also flexible enough to fit down into the hole. If the silver cap stays on, it's worth it.

Price seems a bit much for 2 pieces of plastic
$$ is a bit much for such a low cost item. It's not exactly real chrome on the top- c'mon. But it does what it says. Looks nice. Keeps hair out. Just plunk it in and it does what it says.Don't love cleaning it. It's a bit gross. - but that's just my problem.Only thing that irritates me is that as it compresses to fit the opening- the plastic seems to have a long memory and stays in that position- so if you pull it out and re position it- it shimmies around a bit and doesn't seal off the pipe quite as well.
