Programmable and versatile
I really love this light! I have a new 40-gallon aquarium and when I started looking for a light I was reminded that I had purchased this brand in the past and recalled how much I liked it. But this one has a great feature that the last one I bought did not have - the programmable digital device that takes the worry out of lighting my tank. The device allows me to preset on and off as well as brightness and type of light. I love that it is LED which provides optimal lighting for my fish as well as the living plants while reducing electricity requirements. This light is awesome.

Awesome product!!!
I have 2 of these lights (different sizes), the quality of the light is just fantastic though on both. Packed with features and has tons of light. Take some time to figure out, wish setting up was a little easier. Other than that though this is a awesome light and great value!

A nice improvement over the Classic Gen2 models
So far I'm loving these SkyLED lights. I own two of them. I also own 3 of the Classic Gen 2 lights and like everything about them except the timer. With them you have to be home at the time you want the lights to come on in order to set the timer after a power outage. These SkyLED lights are brighter, more water resistant, and have a much better timer, with more options, and so far, has remembered the settings after a power outage.

Nice Aquarium Light
I installed this light on our 40 gallon bow-front aquarium and it looks great. These tanks are tall and they need a strong light. The light is strong enough to make the whole tank shine. The programming works well also, although you need to read the instructions to know how to set it. The cables are long enough for my setup, but not too long. (Don't make the shorter, I needed them at full length.) Things I like:* Color balance and ability to adjust blue separately* Light strength (more than enough for my planted freshwater tank)* Night time slow sunset and moonlight programs.* Packaging and assembly is robust* Controller display is easy to readThings that could be improved (took off 1 star):* Memory when the power goes out - it should keep time for at least a few hours* Retain programming when power goes out - I know I'll need to program it all again when the next snowstorm kills the power on us* Dimming is linear, not logarithmic. People observe luminance on a logarithmic scale. The dimming adjustment should be exponential so that 50% level looks 50% as bright as 100%. I adjusted the white from 100 -75 and could not even see any change.Otherwise this is a solid product. I'm sure they will solve the time retention problem soon. (All my little timer modules for my other devices remember the time when the power glitches. ) It's a nice product and I am happy I purchased it!

I love these lights!
I have 7 fish tanks now and 4 of them have these lights. The programming ability is VERY cool. I have them all sync'ed (since you input the current time) and so they all act at the same time! On one, I even had to adjust the brightness down about 25% as algae was building up. Algae was nearly gone in a week and still has enough light for the plants. Great lights with the easy to use programmable remote. I don't have a lot of experience with other brands but did get one of those Hygger ones with the 3 buttons, when my buddy gave me his whole setup. I've yet to research or read how to set it (LOL) and just guess about the time I want it to transition. Anyway, all my plants seem to be doing very well with this lighting. An enhancement request... the wire frame extendy things that reach to either side of your tank are low to the water surface. I would like a set of wire frames that would put them about 6 to 8 inches OVER the tank. Not sure how they can engineer that cost effectively. What I did was pull them out, take it to my bench vise, and just bent them where I wanted... but that changes how they fit to the edge because of the bends. One drawback, if I'm to nit-pick. We had some bad storms a few days ago and we lost power. When the power even glitches, these things reset their time to midnight (I think it was) but didn't seem to lose any of the custom settings... But is that even a problem? Maybe future models could have a little backup battery supply for this sort of event. I've heard places like California can experience many brown-outs, so I imagine it can become tedious to have to always reset the time. Doesn't happen often here, so no worries. So if power glitches at night, I guess it's good to reset to midnight so all your tanks don't suddenly come to life while you're sleeping! LOLHope that helps. Get them, you won't be disappointed!

Great Light, great price!!
I was skeptical, a light at this price that would grow my plants?! No way. But it's true! I've had the light for about week and I can already see the growth. My plants look strong, the fish seem good with it. I don't use the blue light at night, my fish seemed too active so I turn down the "day" light around 7pm and then off at 10pm. I am going to put a timer on it so it goes on late in the day to reduce the chance of algae.Update:I've had the light one month and my plant growth is incredible. I usually just keep plants alive but this light has them growing so fast I actually need plant food for them. Great light for a deeper than average tank.

Gone threw 2 of these, only last 6 months disappointed.
This is not water proof. The silicone they use to seal does not completely cover the wire contacts. Mine corroded away. Both my lights failed one with a lid and the other with out a lid. The one with out the lid was absolutely trashed when I took it apart. It was covered is water and the coating on the PCB was coming off.The performance to the light is great. It grows plants looks good has a great pre programed controller. When it works it is amazing. It is just not built to last. I have so many tanks so the low price point was tempting but I remember getting nicrew lights of this quality for half the price 4 or 5 years ago.
