sharp
This meat cleaver is awesome for chopping up a whole chicken and pork BBQ. The cleaver is pretty heavy and feel good to hold and chop, very solid, It's super sharp. Each swing makes a very clean cut all the way through the chicken bones, and leave no splinters. I'd recommend it if you need something to process meat with bones in it.

First Impressions
This sucker is hefty. If you want a light knife this is not for you. However, it's a meat cleaver after all and the weight does come in handy. Most importantly:• The balance is good• It’s well-honed• It has a full tang design• The handle affords a good non-slip grip• The specs on the steel are good (claims to be X50 CrMOV German made steel)• Excellent price.I own a large set of the original Grand Prix Wusthof knives but never got around to purchasing the meat cleaver before they were discontinued in favor of what I feel is the considerably less attractive Grand Prix II handle design. Anything I would purchase would therefore not be a match so I opted to try out one with a low price point and good specs rather spending more cash on a much pricier Henkel, Wusthof Classic, Cutco, or Global cleaver. On my first use of the cleaver, I attempted to cut a lime in half and it wouldn’t budge. I thought to myself that the perceived sharpness of the blade must have been an illusion, lol, but I proceeded to hack up eight chicken thighs and the cleaver made short shrift of the task. Single blow cuts were easiest but I must improve my aim. Cutting the meat then pressing the top ofthe blade worked well too — much easier than using a 10 inch chef’s knife. So far so good.

I am so glad I did not send it back
When I got this cleaver the first thing I tried to cut with it was an onion and some vegetables. I was disappointed because I thought something was wrong because it was just average at cutting vegetables. I have knives that cut vegetables better. I thought about sending it back. Then I decided, before I send it back let me at least try to cut up some raw meat with bones. That was amazing! That was what made me keep it! It did such a good job, it cut through the bone without splinters and in one shot. I compared it to my old cleaver which does well with vegetables but always left bone splinters and this was just the opposite. I have never had a cleaver that cuts up meat with bone this easily. Definitely keeping it now. By the way it does say in the description that it is not really made for vegetables, but more for meat and bones so try it out on those things before you decide if it is not right for you. I almost made that mistake and I am glad now that I tested it on what it was designed for.

Razor Sharp
A very sharp meat cleaver. Ours was old and came in a set of knives, so instead of buying a new knife set, I decided to buy a good quality cleaver, which was all that needed replacing anyway. This knife cuts though things like softened butter. I was concerned with my neuropathy that I would struggle using this. I actually use this one more than any other ones, because it's so easy for me to use. My old one would take me 45 minutes to cut up my meat (I would have to take breaks), but with this one I'm able to do the same thing in about 20 minutes with only one break. I do take my time though, I definitely don't want to cut myself or cut anything off.Again, super sharp, so be careful.

High quality Meat Cleaver!
High quality German steel cleaver. Honed at the same angle as my Henkel blades. Chops and slices cleanly every time and should be easy to keep sharp. No, don't machine wash. Like all quality blades, you need to hand wash this and dry immediately if you want to maintain a sharp edge for as long as possible... and use a proper cutting board.Nice balance, nice handle, pretty much optimal weight.

Good chopper for the money.
Great meat cleaver for the money I use it about ten times now for chopping and slicing so far still sharp but keep in mind that i chop on a cutting board with a second slab under the one that I’m chopping and so on to keep the blade from stricken the broad so hard to protect the blade no complaints out of the chopper yet it’s done every thing I have thrown at it.

Light weight not the greatest for bone
The cleaver felt good in my hand but it is not that heavy so chopping can be difficult especially when hitting bone. I will keep this for lighter work and purchase another one. This time I will go to a store so I can feel the weight.

good overall
The cleaver is sharp, heavy and a solid handle. I used it for cutting up whole chickens and it worked very well.
