The perfect gray for me!
I wish this listing had a color swatch, so I hope my photo helps someone. I bought it, hoping it would meet my needs as far as the type of gray I was looking for.I use almost exclusively DS paints because they rarely disappoint. This gray is no exception, as I have been hunting for the perfect gray. Most grays, like Payne’s gray, have blue in them, which is fine, depending on what color you are after in your painting. As for me, I wanted more of a true gray, like a slate gray, without any blue undertones. (Think the color of castle walls, etc) I love how a wash of this paint creates this color, and the graduating depths you can achieve depending on how strong you make the color. The consistency is so creamy, and like almost all DS paints, a joy to paint with. I hope this review helps someone in knowing what the color will actually look like.

Now I get it!
I finally understand all the fuss (and price) over Daniel Smith watercolors. Not only does a little go a LONG way but the paint is, simply put, beautiful and behaves beautifully. They've also managed to design the tube so that when you first open it, a geyser of paint doesn't instantly shoot forth -- which is what always happens with my Winsor-Newton tubes -- and they've done something to the threads of the screw-on top so that even if you do make a mess of squeezing the paint out, it doesn't get gooped up as much when you try to clean it and screw the top back on (hard to explain but you'll get it when you see it).

Graphite Grey
As expected, great watercolor paint from Daniel Smith. What I like about this color grey is that by default it's quite dark, almost black. It thins out nicely into a light grey with just water when needed, so it's very versatile. Other greys I've used were challenging to get the color I wanted.

Didn’t love it
This color is just like using a graphite pencil except painting. Didn’t think it blended that well and returned it because I didn’t think I’d reach for this color as much.
