Main Street #1: Welcome to Camden Falls (1)

You CAN judge a book by it's cover
The excellent book and it's remarkable cover are equally as charming! Indeed you will be welcomed to Camden Falls in this, the first, of the Main Street series. I have not read these in order. Actually, the sequel to this was probably the 1st I read and I've read a bunch since. I finally got to this one and it gives the back story and introduction to further books. While this is a series that you don't HAVE to read in chronological order, it might be a tad bit more necessary to do so, unlike BSC. With it's soap-operaesqe cliffhanging and non-resolve to certain plots, some children may find it easier to start from the beginning. I recommend reading this book outdoors or inside with doors and windows open in maybe late August/early September....the weather really lends to the charm! Sensitive handling of an autistic character as well as of the girl-from-the-wrong-side-of-the-tracks. It is a complete mind boggler to me why this series doesn't have at least 100 installments. Ann Martin is just excellent.

My 10 years old child listens to to it every night at bedtime.
I got this book on CD for my 10 years old child for Christmas. She listens to it every night when she goes to bed. It gives her imagination and creativity to be in the characters' shoes, especially the older sister, since my child has a younger sibling of her own. I will highly recommend this book/CD.

wonderful unique series
Main Street is another delightful series by Ann M Martin, full of characters and their stories.I admire Ann because she shows children real life, in a sweet way. I think this book was almost a teensy bit depressing sometimes though and I feel very sad whenever I think of Robby being teased in the shop :(

Have not read this book yet
but if it's anything like the rest of the books in the series it will be well worth reading. I purchased this book to finish out the series that I bought at a local store for 80% off. I have enjoyed all the other books and will be passing them along to my 8 yr old niece for her birthday. Would recommend the series to anyone.

Sad but great!
I actually went backwards with this series odd enough! Anyways, this book was great! It had a heartbreaking storyline but then it really was just an amazing book when you got to know the characters.
