I love pretty much anything Lucy Cousins does
I love pretty much anything Lucy Cousins does. These are some of the only kids' books out there that have female main characters (especially female main characters that aren't frilly-frou-frou.. I want my son to grow up knowing how to put himself in a female's shoes. Research shows that reading fiction builds empathy...but what if we never empathize with female main characters? Anyway--I love these books for lots of reasons.

Cute Stories!
My son is obsessed with the Maisy books! They're well written and super cute. They hold up pretty well to toddler wear and tear.

Another Maisy book
If you're looking to buy a Maisy book, you already know who Maisy is and how these books are written. So I'll cut to the chase, here are the themes on each of the pages:1) Maisy notes there is a lot of work to do on the farm2) Maisy gets chicken feed3) Maisy feeds the chickens4) Maisy feeds the pigs5) Maisy notes sheep eat grass.6) Time to milk the cow7) Maisy milks cow.8) Breakfast time: Maisy pours a bowl of cereal.9) Little Black Cat gets some milk10) Good Work! Maisy and Little Black Cat eat breakfast.

My 3-year-old loves these
These little Maisy books aren't that amusing from a parent's perspective, but for some reason my 3-year-old sure loves them. What's best is that the words are simple enough that she is able to memorize the entire book after a few times through and now "reads" them to me at bedtime. That in itself is certainly worth the price of the book!

Two year old approved!
Bought this for my 2 year old boy and he has been very pleased. He also has Maisy Big, Maisy Small which I would highly recommend as well. It is a short book, but my son tends to get excited and helps with the story telling he enjoys it so much.

Tons of little bits for children to play with, perfect for holidays
I wanted something light to take with us on holiday to keep my 2-year-old occupied with imaginative play. This farm pulls out into 3 sturdy card sections, which rest fairly stably on the floor. The 2-d props and characters that go with it are all made of thin card, so I wouldn't recommend this for rough or easily-frustrated toddlers, and parents will need to bring sticky tape and keep an eye out for missing bits. But the pop-up "rooms" the animals go into, and which Maisy can move around, are very well designed. There is a barn with two levels for Maisy to climb up, an allotment-style garden, pop-up pens for pigs and sheep, a tractor, lots of farm animals (which will keep falling over) and Cyril, Tallulah and Charley are included, as well as accessories for feeding and looking after the animals. There's also a mini-book to read to your child and give them ideas for playing with this toy. But I don't think my toddler will have any trouble working out how to get lots of play out of this.

Visually enticing
It is closer to the kind of experience children have on TV or computers. Good tactile experience and colourful pictures

Highly Recommended!
My 2.5 yr old loves this book. It is a pop-up playset - the covers open up and tie together to form a barn playset. There are many animals and Maisy characters to play on the farm. We have only had it for a week and it has provided DOZENS of hours of entertainment already. We also have Maisy's pop-up house and Maisy walks between the two... to work on the farm then go back home to shower, eat, and sleep.
